The SPRINT system provides prismatic measurement capability. This offers a range of additional benefits to users of the system who want to perform traditional job set-up and process control activities by measuring prismatic features more rapidly and accurately than is possible with traditional probing solutions.

The system’s capability for high-speed scanning of circles, arcs and planes, and its full suite of NC updates and logic statements, create improved opportunities for on‑machine process control by significantly reducing cycle times. In addition, the system provides comprehensive geometric data, such as the component’s circularity, flatness and straightness. For traditional probing tasks, the SPRINT system also supports discrete point measurement.

Prismatic inspection programs for the SPRINT system can be generated quickly and easily using Productivity+™ Active Editor Pro. The addition of logic statements and machine updates allows a range of in-process control tasks to run with minimal operator intervention.

The on-machine Productivity+™ CNC plug-in software provides users with an interactive front end for editing and running probe routines, using easy-to-understand screens instead of complex NC codes, to display the program to the user. The CNC plug-in software can also produce on-screen reporting of prismatic measurement, so the results can be reviewed as they are captured.

SPRINT capability within the CNC plug-in software also offers a number of significant user benefits. For instance, the close connection between the CNC plug-in and machine tool control provides a truly seamless operation to use probing results to update the machine, without the need for operator intervention. The CNC plug-in also features enhanced data handling capacity and analytical capability when compared to traditional macro software solutions. This allows fitting routines to provide more accurate results, including true form errors.

OSP60 SPRINT™ probe

The OSP60 scanning probe has an analogue sensor with 0.1 µm resolution in three dimensions to provide exceptional accuracy, giving the greatest understanding of workpiece form.

Constructed from the highest grade materials, the OSP60 is robust and reliable in the harshest machine tool environments and able to withstand shock, vibration, temperature extremes and liquid ingress.

A range of SPRINT-specific styli is available to complement the enhanced capability provided by the OSP60. Easily identifiable by a black stylus holder engraved with the exact ball diameter, these styli include a number of design elements which offer improved metrology performance for machine tool applications, in comparison with standard styli offerings.
